Day 1

Asset Management Strategy & ISO 55000

Apply the ISO 55000 framework to develop an effective organisational asset management system.

8 hours 3 modules
Module 1

ISO 55000 Framework

  • ISO 55001 requirements: context, leadership, planning, support, and evaluation
  • Strategic asset management plan (SAMP): purpose and content
  • Asset management policy: scope, commitments, and communication
  • Value from assets: balancing cost, risk, and performance
Module 2

Maintenance Strategy Selection

  • RCM methodology: functions, functional failures, and failure consequences
  • Maintenance task types: scheduled restoration, discard, and on-condition
  • FMEA: failure mode identification and task selection
  • Maintenance strategy documentation and living document management
Module 3

Asset Criticality & Risk Ranking

  • Criticality ranking methodology: safety, environment, production, and cost
  • Risk matrix application: likelihood × consequence scoring
  • Criticality tiers: A, B, C classification and maintenance implications
  • Asset register development: data quality and completeness requirements
Practical Workshop

Criticality ranking workshop: teams apply a risk matrix to a provided equipment list, assign criticality tiers, and define the maintenance strategy basis for each tier.

Day 5

Asset Integrity, Life Extension & Digital AM

Apply integrity standards, life extension strategies, and digital tools to asset management.

8 hours 3 modules
Module 1

Risk-Based Inspection (API 580/581)

  • RBI fundamentals: probability and consequence of failure matrices
  • Damage mechanism assignment by equipment and fluid service
  • Inspection effectiveness categories: A through E
  • RBI inspection plan: coverage, method, and interval determination
Module 2

Asset Life Extension

  • Fitness-for-service (FFS) assessment: API 579 levels 1–3
  • Ageing equipment: life assessment and justification report
  • Safety critical element (SCE) performance standards and verification
  • Engineering change management: MOC process and technical authority
Module 3

Digital Asset Management

  • CMMS/EAM implementation: SAP PM, IBM Maximo, and AVEVA AM
  • Mobile workforce management: digital work orders and field data capture
  • Asset performance management (APM) platforms and dashboards
  • Predictive maintenance using IIoT data and machine learning models
Practical Workshop

Capstone asset management plan: teams develop a comprehensive AM plan for a provided process unit covering criticality, maintenance strategy, PdM programme, and a KPI reporting dashboard.
