Design and optimise drilling fluid systems and hydraulics programmes for efficient well delivery.
Hydraulics optimisation exercise: groups calculate ECD profiles for a proposed well design and recommend nozzle sizes and flow rates to maintain a safe drilling margin.
Develop systematic approaches to hazard anticipation, well control, and non-productive time elimination.
Well control simulation: teams work through a kick detection and kill procedure scenario step-by-step, completing kill sheet calculations and BOP operation sequence.
Understand the unique engineering challenges and mitigation strategies for complex well environments.
Deepwater or HPHT scenario analysis: groups identify the critical technical risks for a provided complex well, design mitigation measures, and present their risk register to peers.
Apply well integrity standards, performance benchmarking, and digital tools to optimise overall well delivery.
Capstone drilling performance review: teams analyse an actual or simulated drilling dataset to identify NPT root causes, quantify lost performance, and present a drilling programme improvement plan.
